Design and Install a Complete Wind Turbine/Solar System

Instructor David Cooke, President of TRUE-NORTH Power, operates the FREE Wind Test Centre now in Ayr ON near Kitchener, Cambridge, area and has personally installed and/or serviced over 200 wind turbines or wind/solar renewable energy systems across Ontario, the Maretimes, US, and Caribbean since 2002. As military helicopter pilot, astronaut candidate and software developer for satellite tracking applications, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in Aerospace engineering, Internet development and controller technology to the renewable energy industry. The FREE Wind Test Centre is the World Training Centre for wind turbine Dealers and Installers of WIND ARROW turbines and now offers this detailed hands-on knowledge to individuals and companies who want to take advantage of the ability to generate, store and manage their own FREE power source "Behind-the-Meter". This course has been a great success at the FREE Wind Test Centre  on the Bruce Pennisula for nearly 5 years and has also been hosted near Milton ON in the Toronto area. As a speaker in past years at the Canadian Wind Energy Association's (CanWEA) annual general meeting, Mr. Cooke explains why Small Wind is NOT Big Wind. "The only two things BIG and Small wind have in common is Wind and Bureaucracy . . and I'm not sure that's actually two things". At one CanWEA conference in Toronto, Mr. Cooke delivered two presentations on local zoning by-law issues and why selling personal power systems is unlike selling anything else, because you are replacing a service with a product.

For Wind and Solar Dealers and Self-Installers

You will learn every important aspect of systems design, siting, installation, operations and maintenance for small wind turbines and solar PV, along with how to integrate components into an expandable hybrid power system. We don't just cover the theory and application but also the performance trade-offs and marketing issues, environmental, bylaws and safety considerations and we physically assemble and test a full hybrid wind and solar PV system and make it work during the workshop. There's an 80 page binder of all the presentation material and a 25 page Systems Integration Guide as well as a ton more calculators, install photos and help files on a CD ... plus a couple of current books on the subject ... so it's well worth the price.

Attendee Testimonials

First off let me thank you again for the great weekend......absolutely fabulous.....you really put us all through the paces. I loved it.......my brain is in Overload Mode still.....so I'm so glad I have the binder, your CD and my tapes for review......so much information........I'm sure some of it would be lost forever without those materials for review.

         — Dave

I would like to thank you on your workshop course, and for the way you presented the material on turbines, towers, batteries, solar panels & layouts of all components etc. It was one the best informed workshops that I have ever attended over the years. I noticed the women, on the course, were very pleased in how you answered their concerns and situations. They understood your different type of examples, answering their questions. For anybody going to build a new house or cottage, in a remote area, I would highly recommend, for them, to take your weekend workshop.
