WIND ARROW Videos and Sound:
One of the
most common questions we get is, How noisy is the your turbine? . . . as if
all small turbines are noisy. Well, judge WIND ARROW for yourself. The very stiff and highly efficient carbon fiber blades are a major reason this turbine is "virtually silent".
This recording (YouTube video link below) was taken on a quiet but somewhat windy and sunny day in April 2009. Wind is about 12-15mph with gusts occasional gusts to 20. You can hear the neighborhood dog and some kids playing a few houses away in a quiet residential setting. . . and then there is the "drain". . . just at the foot of the cameraman is a standard sewer grate and water is dripping off the water soaked turf from the recent snow melt. If you want to know who makes the most noise . . water drip or WIND ARROW . . . you'll be surprised. Have a look and just listen.

NOTES ON RECORDINGS:
In order to reduce the file sizes of these recordings the video quality
was sacrificed in order to focus on the best quality audio we could
get. 30 Meg Quicktime .MOV videos were converted to AVI files for
general access and then downsized again to WMV for fast Internet
download while preserving reasonably good audio quality. As a result
the blade speed is sometimes very close to the frame rate and does not
appear to be turning very fast at times or even may appear to be
turning backwards, when in fact they are flying at several hundred rpm.
The audio recording quality however, was converted at 22.5kHz in order
to preserve the most detail in all the ambient sounds as well as the
sound of the turbine.
